And on the first day of the event, organized alternately with the Paris Air Show, the American can be satisfied with some commercial successes. Starting with a firm order worth several billion dollars from Korean Air in the long-haul segment: it will buy 20 777-9s and 20 787-10s (with an option for ten additional units). Japan Airlines has officially confirmed the order (revealed in March) for 787-9 Dreamliners (ten purchases and ten options). The Luxembourg company Luxair has also announced that it will add the longest 737MAX model, the 737-10, to its fleet, with a firm order for two aircraft and an option for two others. Boeing will also sell four cargo versions of the 777 to the American carrier National Airlines.
On the Airbus side, no firm order announcements have yet been made on the first day of the show. The aircraft manufacturer has simply signed a “memorandum of understanding” with the national airline of Bhutan, Drukair, for the future purchase of 3 A320neo and 2 A321XLR.
On the first day of the show, its organizer counted 163 firm orders for aircraft from all manufacturers combined with a catalog value of 4.6 billion pounds (5.46 billion euros).
