Samsung Health is pre-installed on most Samsung mobile phones, but what does it do? We explain.
Samsung Health measures the number of steps you took per day and thus how much energy you burned, either via the phone’s movements or if you have a Samsung watch or activity bracelet. With the latter, heart rate, sleep and stress are also measured, and in the app you can also log your food and weight to have an overall health overview.
If you want an overview of your health over time, Samsung Health works well, but best as a complement to a Samsung watch.
Differences with Fitbit: After Google bought Fitbit, it seems to be phasing out its own Google Fit app for health data. Fitbit collects and presents much the same information as Samsung Health. With a premium subscription, you get a little more detailed information. The two apps present their information in a slightly different way and it may be a matter of taste which you prefer, but mostly the choice is governed by whether you want a watch or bracelet from Google or Samsung.
