More power, more sport: New models for the Panamera family

With a new Turbo S E-Hybrid presents Porsche the most powerful Panamera ever – while a dynamic and intense GTS completes the extensive model range.

Since its model introduction in 2009, the Porsche Panamera has set the standard for the ultimate sports sedan, and the story continues with the latest generation, introduced in 2023.

Two more models are now being added to the family, each highlighting the strengths of the four-door Porsche: The powerful and innovative Turbo S E-Hybrid – and the purist and focused Panamera GTS.

Both new models are equipped with a further developed version of the well-known 4.0-liter V8 engine, which is known from the current Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid. The powerful petrol engine has been optimized, among other things, by switching from single to twin-scroll turbochargers, which reduces the heating phase for the exhaust system’s catalysts and ensures lower emissions. At the same time, the 8-speed dual clutch transmission (PDK) has been improved to handle the enormous torque of the hybrid powertrain that powers the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

Most powerful ever: Turbo S E-Hybrid

When it comes to Porsche, the Turbo designation symbolizes cutting-edge high technology and massive power, and in these areas the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid certainly does not disappoint. With its 782 horsepower – an increase of more than 100 horsepower compared to its predecessor – and a torque of 1,000 Newton meters, the new top model is the most powerful Panamera ever. The forces are created by an intelligent combination of the 600-horsepower V8 engine and a 190-horsepower electric motor built into the gearbox. The 0-100 discipline is completed in just 2.9 seconds, while the top speed is 325 kilometers per hour.

At the same time, it can now run even longer on electricity. The 25.9 kilowatt-hour battery contains 45 percent more capacity than its predecessor and ensures the most powerful Panamera an electric, silent and comfortable range of up to 88 kilometers (WLTP). A full charge of the battery takes less than two hours and 39 minutes.

The Turbo designation also comes with a special look consisting of more aggressively designed front and rear bumpers, while certain components, such as the 21-inch Turbo S wheels with centerlocks, appear in the special Turbonite color, which is currently only used on the Turbo models .

Turbonite is also used in the interior, including on the center console and steering wheel as well as the stitching in the seats and dashboard. The list of standard equipment on the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid also includes the efficient carbon fiber ceramic brakes (Porsche Carbon Composite Brakes, PCCB) with yellow calipers, rear wheel steering and Porsche Active Ride with active shock absorbers, which in milliseconds create the necessary pressure depending on the surface and driving situation.

Track record at the Nürburgring

And it’s not just about the most powerful Panamera ever. The new Turbo S E-Hybrid is also the fastest – at least when it comes to a trip around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. With the German Porsche test driver Lars Kern behind the wheel, a copy of the new top model completed a lap of the 20.8 kilometer long German racetrack in 7:24.172 minutes. The new Turbo S E-Hybrid thus sets both a new Nürburgring record in the class for four-door street cars with a combustion engine or hybrid drivetrain – and at the same time beats its predecessor by 5.64 seconds.

Sporty and refined: GTS

GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport, and Porsche models with this designation traditionally offer an extra degree of sportiness and intense driving pleasure without compromising the need for practical daily usability. Thus, the new Panamera GTS appears with a chassis that adds even more dynamism to the driving characteristics, an exclusive SportDesign package and an interior where the sporty feeling has also been turned up.

The heart of the new Panamera GTS, however, is the 4.0-liter V8 engine with biturbo, which – in this version without the use of hybrid technology – delivers 500 horsepower. In addition to the seductive sound that flows via a special sports exhaust, the GTS variant also achieves a 0-100 time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 302 kilometers per hour.

The list of standard equipment has the dynamic in focus and includes, among other things, a 10 millimeter lower sports suspension with active shock absorbers (Porsche Active Suspension Management, PASM) and tighter anti-roll bars, while the electronically controlled differential (Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, PTV Plus) ensures distribution the forces optimally between the wheels.

Optically, the new Panamera GTS can be recognized by its sportier front bumper, dark-toned HD Matrix LED headlights, red brake calipers behind the 21-inch Turbo S wheels with center locks, dark-toned rear lights and exhausts painted in dark bronze. In addition, there are the GTS-typical black lacquered details such as window moldings, side skirts and other components, while the cabin offers, among other things, 18-way adjustable sports seats, which, like other parts of the cabin, are covered with a mixture of leather and Race-Tex.

The Danish prices start at DKK 3,179,900 including VAT for the Panamera GTS and from DKK 3,244,900 including VAT for the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. The new Panamera models can be experienced at Porsche Center Aarhus and Porsche Center Copenhagen during 2024.
