Contracts on the basis of which various infrastructure projects will be implemented in the territories of protected areas of national importance, and which aim to improve and raise the capacities of the pearl of nature under state protection, were signed with 14 cities and municipalities.
On that occasion, Irena Vujović, Minister of Environmental Protection, said that as part of this public competition, about 97 million dinars were allocated, which is 115 percent more than in the previous year, and also more than doubled the number of local self-governments that users of funds.
Minister Vujović explained that the local self-governments received the funds after they nominated quality projects in the public competition for the allocation of incentives for the preservation and protection of biological, regional and geological diversity in 2024.
She pointed out that in 2024, through the current competition, but also including regular subsidization of protected areas, the largest amount of funds will be invested so far – about 600 million dinars.
According to the contracts signed today, the local governments will use the funds received for the construction and improvement of roads in Knjaževac, Leban and Trstenik, pedestrian paths in Irig and Zrenjanin, for the rehabilitation of the bridge in Prijepolje, the construction of the visitor center in Kuršumlija, and the improvement of caves in Krupanj and Despotovac , areas around lakes and ponds in Kruševac and Pirot. It will also be used for the installation of public lighting in Bajina Bašta, an outdoor eco-classroom in Kikinda, and the installation of solar panels in Užice.
