Shocking images were seen at the commemorations for the 104 victims of the deadly fire in Eyewhich shook the Panhellenic nation in July 2018.
Six years ago, 104 of our fellow citizens and their families lived through an unspeakable nightmare, while those who survived still carry the wounds.
The families of the victims continue to seek justice and punishment for those responsible.
The commemorative events began at 9 am with a memorial service at the Holy Church of Agios Ioannis in Neo Voutza, while the High Priestly Memorial Mass followed at the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Virgin in Kokkino Limanaki, in the presence of the Most Reverend Archbishop of Mesogaia, Mr. Nikolaos.
At 20:00 the main event and the triathlon took place at the Naval Sports Club in Mati (N.A.O.M.A.).
At 21:00, relatives and friends, walking from N.A.O.M.A. to Argyra Akti, placed in the sea 104 floating lanterns and flowers in memory of the victims, as well as white balloons for Evita and the 11 children who were lost prematurely.
