According to the announcement, the Jarsz missile units practice marching up to 100 kilometers, as well as protecting the units, dispersal and camouflage at the same time. According to the report, the exercises are taking place in the basin of the Volga River, about 700 kilometers from Moscow. Part of the elaborated operations is to move the most important formations to difficult-to-walk forest terrain, thereby concentrating on hiding.
The exercises carried out with the RSz-24 Yarsz missile system are considered special because it is undoubtedly the cornerstone of Russia’s strategic defense capabilities.
It has both mobile and silo-based solid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missiles. The system works mounted on a truck, thanks to which its position can be changed quickly. According to the available information, several missiles can hit the target at a distance of up to 11 thousand kilometers. Exercises like this have increased in Yarsok since Moscow decided to invade Ukraine in February 2022.
In the background of the exercises in July 2024, there is also – although this was not confirmed by either party – thaty American B-52 bombers appear more and more often near Russian territories. On July 21, for example, one of the United States’ B-52H aircraft landed in Romania, which Bucharest and Washington called historic. Another copy of the long-range strike aircraft flew from the Barents Sea all the way to the Black Sea, practically parallel to the Russian border. According to the news, on Sunday the Russian units captured one of the B-52s and launched fighter jets to intercept it, the American plane finally changed its flight direction. NATO’s announcement claims the opposite, according to them, the vehicle did not change anything on its route. According to EurasianTimes, similar flights send the message that
the deeper integration of the new NATO member states, such as Finland and Sweden, into the military organization began.
