PS5: Custom 3D Audio and Remote Play News Coming

Sony has released a new PlayStation 5 firmware update and announced new features coming to the console in upcoming releases.

PS5 system software update 24.05-09.60.00 is now available for download. This version introduces the feature PS5 Session Share on the console, which allows you to invite other players to game sessions by sharing a URL.

To use this new feature, simply open the action tab of your game session and select “Share Link”. You can then scan the QR code with a mobile device to share the link. This option is currently only available for open sessions that are accessible to everyone.

Other new features in the update include:

  • Voice command support to open Game Help tabs by saying “Show Game Help”
  • Improvements to system software performance and stability
  • Software update for some DualSense controllers to improve stability
  • Improvements to messages and usability of some screens

New features coming with the beta

Sony also announced the release of a new ps5 beta starting from July 25th, which will introduce Custom 3D audio profiles e new settings for Remote Play.

Beta participants will be able to test out adaptive charging for controllers.

Here are the main new features of the PS5 beta:

Custom 3D audio profiles

This feature will allow the PS5 console to create a 3D audio profile tailored to each user. Using compatible headphones or earphones, you can run a series of sound quality tests to analyze numerous factors and create an audio profile optimized for your hearing characteristics.

The personalized profile will allow you to better perceive the positions of characters and objects in the game worldmaking the experience even more engaging.

Remote Play Settings for Individual Users

You will be able to adjust Remote Play settings for each user, choosing who is allowed to connect to your PS5 using this feature. This will allow you to easily manage remote access to your console when friends or family use your PlayStation Network account.

Adaptive charging for controllers

Beta participants using the latest PS5 model will be able to test the adaptive charging per i controller DualSense, DualSense Edge, PlayStation VR2 Sense e Access when the console is in sleep mode. This feature helps save power by adjusting the controller’s power duration based on battery level.

Sony plans to release this update globally in the coming months, making these new features available to all PS5 owners.
