AMD’s new processors will debut later than originally expected. The manufacturer has encountered a problem that will take some time to resolve. Unfortunately, gamers will have to wait a little longer.
AMD processors global launch postponed
AMD is one of the leading technology companies that was preparing to launch its new Ryzen 9000 series processors. Although initially nothing indicated any complications, the manufacturer actually discovered a problem on the final stretch. It turned out to be so extensive that it was necessary to postpone the debut date by a dozen or so days.
Expectations for the American manufacturer’s product are really high. Almost from the very beginning, we were fed promises of higher quality standards and energy efficiency. It is no wonder that most gamers and professionals focus their eyes on the new AMD Ryzen 9000. The brand’s move seems very reasonable, probably thanks to the delay, they will be able to meet the highest quality standards, which they have talked about so many times in the media.
Ryzen 9000 processors are expected to have chip compatibility with current AM5 motherboards. The original release date for all processors from the new series was scheduled for July 31. Due to delays, we will have to wait until August. The processors that have already been shipped to stores have been withdrawn. In a statement issued by the brand, we read that the models:
- Ryzen 5 9600X, Ryzen 7 9700X will debut on August 8,
- Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 9 9950X will be available on August 15.
AMD reveals what exactly went wrong
This decision is due to a problem that was revealed during final quality checks. It turned out that the initial production units, already sent to channel partners, did not meet high quality standards. AMD does not go into greater detail, so we can only guess what exactly went wrong. Nevertheless, AMD claims that immediate actions were taken to identify the cause of the problem and find an appropriate solution. Unfortunately, to make this fully possible, it was necessary to postpone the release date of all new processors.
AMD is currently working on replacing the initial production units with new units, which as we can expect will take time. Delays are never nice, and we are all aware of that. Still, I think it is better than receiving faulty hardware that is ultimately unusable.
