For years, Apple has been using CMOS sensors supplied by Sony in its iPhones. The latest information suggests that this situation may change in the near future and Apple may contract another supplier.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, 2026 iPhones Will Equip Samsung’s 1/2.6” 48MP Ultra-Wide CMOS (CIS) Image Sensor
Kuo also claims that Samsung has already created a dedicated team within its ranks to work on camera components that will go to Apple.
If both companies reach an agreement and there are no production problems along the way, these matrices will be installed in the iPhone 18 series.
