Bathing at the Seca and Frente Azul beaches in Espinho, in the district of Aveiro, is not recommended after analyses revealed that the water is unsuitable for this purpose, the National Maritime Authority announced this Thursday.
In a publication on its official website, the National Maritime Authority states that the analysis of water quality, carried out by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), revealed “microbiological values above the reference parameters, making the water unsuitable for bathing”.
After being informed by the APA that swimming is temporarily not recommended on that beach, the captain of the Port of Douro gave instructions for notices to be placed at the access points to the beach, he said.
Going to the bathroom will remain inadvisable until the results of a new analysis of the water quality indicate that the microbiological values are within the reference parameters, he stressed.
