Test | Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Phone – Stands out with looks, storage and fast fast charging

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is Motorola’s latest premium phone, the good points of which include huge storage space and fast fast charging. Unfortunately, there are also minor cosmetic flaws.

In Motorola’s collection, the Edge versions represent the upper end, and their features approach the flagship category. Released in mid-April and proved to be quite a successful device in Muropaket’s estimation Motorola Edge 50 Pro – in the phone already brought with it some features of the flagship class in the price range of 699 euros. Now Motorola Edge 50 Ultra improves in a few more areas and offers a lower flagship-level package at a price of 999 euros.

The Edge 50 Ultra model is equipped with 16 gigabytes of LPDDR5 X RAM memory and there is no less than one terabyte of storage space. There are three colors, which are Peach Fuzz and Forest Gray in the vegan leather version and Nordic Wood in the wooden surface test device. The dimensions of the device are 161.1 x 72.4 x 8.6 millimeters and it weighs 197 grams, so it is a relatively light phone.

The phone’s pOLED panel-based screen has a size of 6.7 inches and reaches a refresh rate of 144 hertz. The 1220p resolution screen supports HDR10+ wide color reproduction and reaches a maximum brightness of up to 2500 nits. LTPO or Always on Display support is not included.

The camera equipment consists of three units at the back and one at the front. The main camera uses a 50 megapixel sensor and has an aperture value of f1.6. This is also optically image stabilized. Another of the cameras is a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera that also functions as a macro camera. The third camera is a 64-megapixel telephoto camera that reaches up to 100x hybrid zoom. Like the main camera, the telephoto camera is also optically stabilized. The front has a 50-megapixel selfie camera with autofocus, with an aperture value of f1.9.

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra has a 4500 mAh battery, which can also be charged with 125 W fast charging and 50 W wireless fast charging. The phone has IP68 water resistance.

The operating system is Android 14, which is topped with Motorola’s Hello UI user interface. For the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, there are three years of Android version updates and four years of security updates.

In addition to the phone and notes, the sales package of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra includes a delightfully efficient but still compact 125 watt charger, a USB-C cable and a small protective case. However, the protectiveness of the plastic protective cover does not seem to be particularly high, as it is slippery in the hand and it does not necessarily soften the impact of the device falling on its side to the floor particularly much.
