BANJALUKA – Professional and uncensored journalism is the basis of every modern society, and that these values are being put to the test in our country, the journalists pointed out in the campaign called “Support the Free”, for which they shot a video.

The goal of the campaign is for citizens to understand that behind the texts they read every day on the Internet, in newspapers and on television, there is a great effort put in by people who work up to 16 hours a day, for low wages, often risking their lives to make good stories and reveal the truth. .
The message of the campaign is to promote the freedom of the media and their transparency in the Republic of Srpska but also in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to offer resistance to the growing pressure of the authorities, which are fighting with all their might to limit us and stop our work by adopting restrictive laws.
In a short video, journalists tell the public what pressures they face.
They pointed to the fact that the authorities are sparing no means to suppress freedom of speech and free journalism either through lawsuits or physical violence.
They are often targeted and the powerful threaten us, pressure companies to advertise, and when they cannot answer the discovered scandals with arguments, they accuse journalists of being foreign mercenaries.
Due to all these pressures on journalists, the public must understand how important free journalism is in the service of the whole society.
Freedom of speech and its limitations in Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot be viewed outside of the prism of the economic conditions of journalists’ lives, pressures from politicians and other office holders, and the use of legal instruments to harm the media.
Thanks to all these factors, journalists daily face various obstacles that directly or indirectly affect freedom of speech, starting from the denial of statements and bans on dealing with certain topics and events, through direct threats, to dismissal for disobedience.
