After several years, Apple releases a web version of its maps

Until now, Apple has operated its maps only on Apple devices, as an application. But now it is also available to Windows users, directly in the browser.

Even though it is still a beta, the interface feels very pleasant and without major glitches. If you know the appearance of maps from iPhones, nothing will surprise you here – the maps look exactly the same.

For now, Apple Maps on the web offers standard, hybrid, and satellite views. What is missing here compared to the mobile application is, for example, a map with public transport. Of course, there is also the search for things and places in the vicinity, such as gas stations, restaurants, hotels and so on.

In the “Guides” tab, as the name suggests, you will find neatly designed guides. For now, here you will learn mainly about American cities and interesting destinations. When searching for a certain city, for example Prague, the maps will offer you a small summary of all the basic information. If you are more interested in more detailed information, you can click through to the Wikipedia page.

What kind of maps would they be if they couldn’t guide. It also works here quite simply and as everyone would expect – you enter the starting point and the destination point and possible routes pop up at you – plain and simple maps.

The final question is why Apple took so long and if anyone will use these maps on a computer.
