The leaks that appeared a few months ago turned out to be true. OpenAI is currently working on a new tool that can easily compete with Google. The first prototype has been distributed to a limited number of users.
OpenAI is building its own search engine
OpenAI specializes in developing artificial intelligence. One of its most popular projects is, of course, ChatGPT. The brand has quickly gained the sympathy of users since its appearance on the market. It is still working on new solutions that will help Internet users in their daily activities.
A few months ago, we first heard that OpenAI was working on a new project. At that time, all we knew was that it was an internet search engine that would use part of Microsoft Bing’s code, we wrote about it in May. We’re talking about a time when the creators did not confirm or deny the rumors about the project in any way. Now, things have changed a bit in this matter.
The authors officially confirmed that the prototype of the new SearchGPT search engine has been sent to selected customers and partners. The tool uses language AI models to search the internet and present the best results with links to sources. It is worth emphasizing here that the tool is to be integrated with ChatGPT, and not as a separate application.
Can OpenAI shake things up? Yes, but on one condition
Most of us are probably aware that ChatGPT has been struggling with the issue of getting information from fresh sources for a long time. In most cases, it is outdated or does not have much to do with reality. The authors had to take action on this matter.
For this reason, OpenAI plans to work with verified publishers who will be able to control how their content is used. Over the next few months, the brand will collect feedback from its “testers” and then implement appropriate fixes.
According to the creators, finding answers on the internet is often time-consuming and requires many attempts. They believe that artificial intelligence models that search the web in real time will facilitate this process and significantly speed it up.
