Currently, the largest memory capacity variant in iPhones is 1 TB. This may change soon.
According to TrendFore analysts, by 2026 an iPhone with built-in memory of 2 terabytes will appear on the market.
This is to be possible by equipping the devices with QLC (four-level) memory; currently, the devices feature TLC memory.
This type of storage is cheaper than TLC in terms of price per gigabyte. However, the downside is that these memories offer slower read and write speeds compared to TLC.
Looking at the time frame mentioned above, the new capacity variant may even appear in this year’s models.
It is worth recalling that earlier this year there were reports that Apple was considering the possibility of using QLC memory in the 1-terabyte iPhone 16.
