Union says 160 teachers are prevented from working next year – Society

The National Education Federation (FNE) says that there are 160 teachers who had to be hired this year and applied for positions throughout the country, but were not placed and are prevented from teaching in the next academic year.

This Friday, the FNE sent an “urgent appeal to the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI) warning of the situation of approximately 160 teachers who would have to join the staff this year, as they had already accumulated three consecutive annual contracts.

These teachers “were unable to obtain a job, even though they applied for all available vacancies in the 63 Pedagogical Zone Frameworks and a significant number of schools”, says the FNE in a statement sent to newsrooms.
