Cheaper and lighter
With the Watch 2R, Oneplus is introducing a new, slightly cheaper version of its current smartwatch generation. We show you all the details about specs, price and release.
The Chinese manufacturer Oneplus launched the second generation of its smart watch, simply called “Watch”, around half a year ago – now the same watch is being reissued in a slimmed down version. The Oneplus Watch 2R is now available on the official website, and the manufacturer is reducing the price of the smartwatch to 249 euros for the launch. The regular RRP is 279 euros.
For the lower RRP compared to the standard version, Oneplus has changed the case material for the Watch 2R: instead of stainless steel, the watch is made of aluminum, which also makes it lighter. The sapphire crystal of the watch is flattened and the MIL-STD-810H certification is no longer applicable.
The display itself remains identical, and the Oneplus Watch 2R still uses a 1.43-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. The chip is also taken over directly: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear W5 works together with the BES2700 as a processor, depending on the load. The battery capacity of 500 mAh also remains the same, with which the smartwatch should last up to 100 hours with normal use.
When it comes to connections, the Oneplus Watch 2R relies on the usual standards; Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band GPS and NFC are on board. The sensors are also limited to standard functions with an acceleration sensor, gyroscope and measurements for pulse and blood oxygen levels.
