The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico (Smer-SD) should get the environment department in order as soon as possible. The opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) appealed to it, saying that the Minister of the Environment Tomáš Taraba (SNS nominee) is the worst minister in the history of this department. According to him, it is failing in managing the recovery plan.
“If Prime Minister Fico cares about the future of Slovakia and the preservation of the national parks, which we are rightly proud of, he cannot just idly watch Tarab’s antics,” underlined Tamara Stohlová (PS), vice-chairwoman of the parliamentary committee for agriculture and the environment. PS MP Michal Sabo pointed out that the minister mainly listens to interest groups and has no sincere interest in communicating with the lay or professional public.
As stated by Taraba, the environmental resort is fulfilling all the objectives of the recovery plan. He defended himself against statements that he was late with tasks from the recovery plan. According to him, he will communicate everything with the European Commission in such a way that Slovakia will not lose a single cent.
