Olympic Games: The opening on TV and live stream

The Olympic Games in Paris are a TV event for German sports fans. They began with a large number of viewers for ZDF.

ZDF’s TV coverage of the Olympic Games began with a ratings success. 4.031 million people watched the broadcast of the German women’s soccer team’s 3-0 victory against Australia on Thursday evening. According to AGF Video Research, this resulted in a market share of 21.3 percent.

The public broadcasters will be offering 240 hours of Olympics in their main programs. ARD will be broadcasting the opening ceremony on Friday (7.30 p.m. on Das Erste and Livestream) and on Saturday with the first full day of competition. After that, the two channels alternate daily. In addition, the free-to-air channel Eurosport and Discovery+ in the live stream. The coverage of the opening on Friday evening begins at 6 p.m.
