Larissa: Special team in the investigations to locate the 39-year-old Vassilis

For the 8th day, the search for Vassilis Kalogirou, in Larissa, has been fruitless. The traces of the 39-year-old were lost on the eve of the New Year and his relatives live in agony about what might have happened to him.

The investigations have now been extended to 10 km radius in the central bed of Pinios that leads to the sea, but also within the urban fabric. In fact, the special team to locate missing persons has rushed to the area, which had found the body of 39-year-old Babisin a marshy area in Messolonghi.

“The most mysterious disappearance I have ever encountered”

«It’s the most mysterious disappearance I’ve come across in my career and that’s what the police say and of course the family also advocates“, emphasized the private investigator Kostas Tsoukalis, noting that “the carried materials in the water element have caused a big problem. Only the people who deal with EMAK can understand the great degree of difficulty that exists».

Searches are fruitless

The investigations continued on Monday (6/1) with EMAK men in boats “combing” Pinios. Drones and trained dogs they “swept” the entire riverside area. Members of volunteer groups performed autopsies in abandoned buildings around the river in an attempt to find some trace of 39-year-old Vassilis Kalogirou and shed light on the thriller of his disappearance.

The police sent a letter to the OSE on January 3 asking to receive visual material from the cameras on the docks and in the ticket offices of the Larissa station, specifically between 5 and 8 in the afternoon on Monday, December 30.

Information from Mega states that at the disposal of the officers of the Greek Police there are two videoswhich show the 39-year-old crossing a bridge into the urban fabric over the river and then disappearing.

«Did it happen at the wrong time in a wrong incident? Because Vassilis, despite the fact that he keeps a low profile, if he happened upon an incident of violence there was no way he would not intervene. It’s a scenario that both the family and I do“, notes private investigator Giorgos Tsoukalis.

The anxiety for his family has hit “red”, while the evidence available to the authorities is scarce and the conditions prevailing in the river make investigations difficult.
