This is how New Year’s resolutions can help when the depression after the Christmas holidays comes

Bagels and lots of stuffed cabbage are not the only reasons for post-holiday exhaustion. Just as our stomachs are filled with food, our souls are filled with the experience of high-spirited family and friend meetings, said the South Magyarországfor Annamária Kádár Csaholczi, life consultant, psychologist-candidate, a PsychoBeaver founder.

Depression or depression after the holidays is a very real phenomenon, in the Anglo-Saxon area it is called post-holiday blues. It refers to the set of symptoms that we experience when we return to the seemingly gray everyday life after a long break

Many people experience something similar, but they don’t necessarily name their mood. However, it is worth raising awareness, because we can do a lot to improve our well-being. Some of the possible reasons are:

  • After the end-of-year holidays, during the winter, the sunshine, vitamin D deficiencythe number of dark hours are influencing factors anyway. This will further dampen our mood in January.
  • The passing away always affects us very deeply, after feverish preparation and celebration, we just have to move on. This makes me feel bad.
  • During heightened periods, adrenaline levels will be higher. After the holidays, the body is looking for balance. It slows down, by law a more restrained period must come.

During the holidays, it is certain that we consumed more carbohydrates and sugary foods, which can upset the biochemical state and balance of our body. This also contributes to depression. That is why it is advisable to make our diet healthier. Movement can also release substances that help you achieve a healthier and better sense of well-being.

According to the specialist, it is advisable to break down New Year’s resolutions into sub-goals, and by taking small steps, we can avoid early failure.

The state after the holidays can be compared to love. We can’t keep burning on a high flame, there are high points, and then we have to calm down according to law, it’s a natural balancing process. It is worth processing the many experiences gained, settling them in ourselves, letting them rest a little

– stressed Annamária Kádár Csaholczi. In his opinion, it always helps if we return to our usual routines or even choose new ones. Little bits of joy help you get back into your normal routine.
