One of the best ways to promote reading is the library bus. From time to time spectacular transformations are made in this field. This time, two mobile libraries were opened in Slovakia, in which anyone can forget about the experience of reading.
The novelties will appear from time to time in Slovak districts such as Késmárk, Poprád, or Lőcse. Not only the larger cities, but also the smaller villages are visited with it in order to make use of this opportunity as widely as possible, reported the Busportal Slovak edition. Those interested can choose from a total of six thousand books and the bus takes approximately 60 minutes at each stop. So readers have that much time to choose the books to borrow.
In Slovakia, the first and for a long time the only library bus started its journey 30 years ago. As part of the development, the old bus was replaced with a new one, and another one was put into service. Both copies are based on the same model, the first generation version of the MAN Lion’s Coach tourist bus. A total of 86,000 euros were spent on their transformation.
The buses have been equipped with bookshelves, seating, and computers with Internet access so that readers can view the authors and titles of the books that can be borrowed digitally. On board, you can find books by many famous and classic authors from world literature. Registered readers can comfortably browse the books available for borrowing even from home. They can make reservations and after the bus has rolled into their place of residence, they can pick up the selected copies.
The new library buses will probably be used not only to borrow books, but also to attend various cultural and educational events. In addition, according to the plans, they can also be ideal locations for small school children to hold competitions or various activities included in the curriculum.
