ChatGPT Pro, launched late last year, offers access to an enhanced version of the o1 "reasoning" artificial intelligence (AI) model, called o1 pro mode, in addition to eliminating usage limits on several company tools, including Sora video generator.
Despite having raised around $20 billion in funding since its founding, OpenAI continues to operate at a loss. Last year, the company reportedly recorded losses in the order of 5 billion dollars, while its revenue was around 3.7 billion.
High personnel costs, office rentals and the infrastructure required for AI training are some of the reasons given for this scenario. It is estimated that, at one point, operating ChatGPT cost OpenAI about 700 thousand dollars per day.
OpenAI needs more money than planned
Recently, OpenAI acknowledged that it needs "more capital than initially anticipated" and is preparing for a corporate restructuring with the aim of attracting new investors.
Among the measures under analysis to achieve profitability is the increase in the prices of your subscriptions.
Despite current difficulties, OpenAI maintains an optimistic outlook, predicting that its revenues will reach US$100 billion by 2029 - a value comparable to the annual sales of food giant Nestlé.
