This is what you need now: 5 used cars for 1 million that eat little

We already dealt with fuels a few days ago: it is prices are starting to go down nicelythe government too loaded the taxes on himand if someone wants to buy a used car now, they have to think about how much their future vehicle will consume.

To help you a little in the decision, we “paged” the Spritmonitor (It is one of the largest social car portals in Europe, where users share the real consumption data of their cars with each other) database and we selected five of the gasoline cars that use the least amount of fuel, which are not a financial disaster in terms of servicing and spare part prices either.

This is exactly why we chose only gasoline models, because these engines have a lower failure rate than diesel versions of a similar age and price category. There are smaller and larger models that can also meet family considerations.

Suzuki Ignis

For one million forints, Ignis is quite a bargain and you can find copies in perfect condition here, especially those from 2006-2008. The mileage is mixed, there are 125,000 and 250,000. You don’t always have to be afraid of many kilometers, the car should definitely be inspected by a knowledgeable acquaintance and specialist, and it is not certain that an Ignis with 200,000 miles will be worse than one with 120,000 miles. It all depends on how it was used and how well the car was owned.

The Ignis is an economical car in city-suburban traffic, no wonder, since it does not weigh a ton with a gasoline engine. The 1.3 liter, 93 horsepower block is more than enough for the car. According to users, you can get by with 6 liters, but you have to pay attention to the fact that the high pace can increase your appetite in an extreme way (you can run into 8-10 liters), so it’s not worth forcing your way through the Ignis if you want to keep consumption low.

Citroën C1

The prices of usable C1 models go up from HUF 800-850 thousand, so you can get a good one for 1 million. There isn’t a large selection, but the three-cylinder, 68-horsepower gasoline one is ideal: it’s not sluggish and barely consumes. In principle, the offer consisted of two types of engines, but the 54 hp 1.4 HDi was missing from the domestic offer, the diesel can be found in gray imported cars.

The one-liter gasoline engine, which was a multiple category winner in the Engine of the Year election, plays an almost exclusive role. The three-cylinder engine almost flies the barely 850-kilogram car, and its fuel consumption is downright flattering at the HUF 630-640 gas price.

Based on experience, it tolerates 160 liters of gas on the highway with 8 liters per hundred, the realistic city consumption is between 5.5-6.0 liters, on the country road we can cover 100 kilometers with 4 liters.

Suzuki Alto

According to users, the Alto is alive with the three-cylinder engine in the city, even though the small engine has very long gear ratios: it can be pulled up to 100 in two.

The fast engine should have a tachometer, but it was missing from the domestic equipment, and the limits of acceleration are not marked on the odometer, as in the past, because sooner or later the engine will slow down anyway. The main advantage of this gasoline engine is low consumption. What a few years ago We measured 6.3 liters in Budapest and 5.1 liters per 100 kilometers at a cultured, but not jerky pace on the highway, which sounds very good together with the air conditioning at full speed and is in line with the data on the Spritmonitor.

And for HUF 1 million, there are 2010 models with less than 100,000 kilometers driven, which look well-maintained based on the pictures, so they can be safely recommended.

Toyota Aygo

The Toyota Aygo can be a good choice as a used car due to its low consumption, reliability and low depreciation. For one million, we can find models with an average mileage of 150,000 kilometers, mainly from 2006-2009. The minis produced in cooperation between PSA Peugeot Citroën and Toyota were designed and manufactured by Toyota in the Czech plant, the C1 above is practically the same car, in a different guise.

The three-cylinder, 998cc Japanese gasoline engine runs almost on gasoline vapor, its average consumption in reality is 5.3 liters, but it is said to be easily under 4 liters on the highway.

Aygos bring the reliability of Toyotas, there are very few uncertain points in the construction. The simple technique wears exceptionally well. Gasoline engines are excellent, they shouldn’t have much trouble. Sometimes the timing chain can click under the bulky engine cover, but this is not dangerous either. What was wrong was the coolant water pump. The auto-starter also required a recall because it did not always stop and disengage from the running engine after starting. The solution was a subsequent relay built into the circuit of the pull-in magnet. Since the cars received this relay either after the fact or at the time of production, Toyota Aygos on the used car market are no longer affected by this.

Toyota Prius

We left the legendary reliable and low-consumption Prius for last, which is really a good buy used, even after all these years. The five-door compact, produced between 2003 and 2009, with a petrol-electric hybrid drive system is really a Jolly Joker if you are looking for a comfortable car for a family, which can be operated with buttons.

There is no choice of engine, the 78-horsepower, 1.5-liter gasoline engine supported by the 50-kilowatt (68-horsepower) electric motor is just enough and very economical.

Urban driving is where the Prius is most valuable. It consumes around 5.8 liters on the highway, but in the city this value starts to creep even lower thanks to the hybrid technology. In a residential area, the electric motor can take its share of the drive better, where consumption of 4.8-5.0 liters/100 kilometers is completely realistic. We also understand:

Many people are put off hybrid used cars by the cost of replacing the battery pack. This would be really uneconomical in the case of old Priuses, but on the one hand, the battery rarely has problems, and on the other hand, it can be repaired cell by cell. In the event of battery failure, the brand services can only officially recommend a complete replacement of the battery pack, this must be taken into account! Of course, they also know the structure of the system there and can solve the cell-by-cell replacement, but you cannot order a separate cell from the manufacturer, only a complete battery array.

If you want a Toyota Prius, you should also look at the German pages, because there is not a lot of mileage here and they also have a lot of kilometers, but it is not at all an impossible task to find a normal copy for HUF 1-1.5 million (or the equivalent Euro).

And on Thursday, there will be another price increase on the domestic wells:
