(Health Korea News / Yoo Ji-in) In the by-election for the 43rd president of the Korean Medical Association, candidate No. 1 Kim Taek-woo was elected. Candidate Kim Taek-woo recorded 60.38% of the votes with 17,007 votes.

On the 8th, the Korean Medical Association Central Election Commission counted the votes for the presidential election runoff at the Medical Association Hall. In the voting, 26,895 out of 51,895 voters voted, recording a voter turnout of 51.83%.

Candidate number 2, Joo Su-ho, received 11,160 votes and was defeated with a vote rate of 39.62%.

As this election is a by-election, President-elect Kim Taek-woo will begin his duties immediately from the 9th. President-elect Kim will serve as president of the Korean Medical Association until April 30, 2027, the remainder of former President Lim Hyun-taek’s term.

President-elect Kim said, “Once I take office as president, first, the government must submit an education master plan, starting with the question of whether education will be possible in the 2025 school year.” He added, “Only by submitting the education plan will we be able to answer the question of what we will do in 2026.” “He said.
