Now a former police officer, who was detained in the fall of 2023 while driving a car while intoxicated with 4.34 ppm of alcohol, she was recently sentenced to a month in prison, the newspaper Latvijas Avīze reports.
The prosecutor’s office transferred to the Zemgale District Court a criminal case against an employee of the Criminal Police Department of the Riga Regional State Police, who was accused of driving a car while heavily intoxicated.
According to the indictment, on October 27, 2023, the woman, while intoxicated at 4.34 ppm, drove a BMW X1 on the Daugavpils highway. Other road users noticed the woman’s strange behavior behind the wheel and called the police because they suspected that she was drunk, which was confirmed by the test.
The woman was driving after hours. On the day the violation was committed, she was detained for two days, and ten days later she resigned from the police.
The woman was deprived of her driver’s license for five years, and her 2011 BMW X1, which she bought in 2022 for 7,250 euros, was confiscated to the state.
