A new estimate points to a 5% drop in Tesla sales in the United States in 2024, compared to the previous year, despite the manufacturer offering record discounts and incentives, in addition to introducing the Cybertruck to its line of vehicles.
It seems that incentives and Cybertruck did not captivate Americans
Following the release of production and delivery results for the fourth quarter and full year 2024, the market continues to analyze the data.
As mentioned previously, Tesla remains one of the most opaque automakers when it comes to disclosing detailed delivery results. The company does not disaggregate data by models or regions, which forces us to trust third-party analytics and data.
One of the most trusted analysts in this field is TroyTeslikewhich uses the social network X to share predictions about Tesla's quarterly results. And now he has published an analysis by region:
- In Europe, Tesla recorded a drop of approximately 10%.
- In China, there was an 8% increase, although Tesla's growth in the world's largest car market has slowed significantly.
- In the US, sales fell by around 5%.
The North American market is particularly relevant and worrying for Tesla. The company operated in the United States in 2024 with historic incentives and discounts, including price cuts and subsidized financing.
Even more significant was the fact that Tesla have added a new model to their US range for the first time in four years: the Cybertruck.
2024 marked the first full year of production for the Cybertruck, which has faced some clear demand issues. Still, the model contributed to more than 30,000 units delivered in the US.
However, despite this novelty, Tesla saw its deliveries drop by more than 34,000 units on the North American market in 2024.
According to Troy, Tesla would also have deliberately reduced production at its US factories throughout 2024 in order to align supply with lower demand. This strategy appears to have worked in a decrease in stock levels at the end of the year.
