In the Thursday morning program of Äripää radio, we look at the latest foreign trade data, talk about the activity volumes of Tallinna Sadama last year and what the new year promises for the metal market.
At 8 o’clock, in an interview with Toomas Kollamaa, you will hear how US President Donald Trump’s decisions will affect the global development of the metal market, what the situation is with scrap metal and how expensive silver can become.
Valdo Kalm, the chairman of the board of Tallinna Sadama, comes to the studio at half past nine, who will talk about the activity volumes of Tallinna Sadama last year, immediately after the results are published. Let’s summarize the year and ask what investments the Port of Tallinn will make this year and what year Kalm expects for the Port of Tallinn.
At nine o’clock you will hear an interview with Swedbank’s chief economist Tõnu Mertsina, with whom we will look at the foreign trade indicators published by the Statistical Office early in the morning. We ask what export numbers tell us about the state of the economy.

The guests of the show will also dwell on a significant development – the expansion of commercial real estate in the Baltics to Poland and what it will bring to the fields in the future. 13.00–14.00 “Business in Estonia”. We visit smaller but prominent companies operating outside Tallinn. Today’s show has brought us to Tartu, where the Tiigi brothers run the company Ööd House. The company makes mirror houses, and over the years their products have become so popular that apart from the Tartu factory, houses are also produced in Texas and Võru. Tallinn and California can also be added to this list this year.
In the show, we talk about the current plans of the company, which has started rapidly with one of the founders, Jaak Tiig, about copying their products and how the start of production goes far away in America. The host is Eget Velleste.
15.00–16.00 “Investment portfolio 2030”. In the program, you will hear a conversation recorded at the summer Investment Festival on the topic of how to get free from paid work. Riin Mäesalu, one of the authors of the free and Off The Record Juttude blog, and Mari-Liis Jääger, head of Swedbank’s financial affairs information center, talk about paid work.
In the conversation, you will hear real-life experience, which steps should be taken before finally giving up paid work. At the same time, according to Jäeger, you can also experiment with a few days off and with a lower load at first. Mäesalu also shared how he now covers his expenses.
