Retro comeback: Fans of the ZDF “Hit Parade” will soon be able to watch the cult show every Saturday 24 hours non-stop on a free TV channel or in a stream.
Always on Sundays, no: on Saturdays in February it’s 24 hours non-stop ZDF “hit parade” on television. Because then the cult show is warmed up on the streaming TV channel GoldStar TV. No, it is not a new edition of the music program that ran on ZDF from 1969 to 2000. Rather, according to the provider, “the best clips” run up and down the hit parade: from the pop stars of the 1970s to the audience favorites of the 1990s.

The ZDF “hit parade” played music from various genres such as hits, pop and occasionally rock. At GoldStar TV, the announcement mainly refers to various hits that were released on the music show, for example by Roland Kaiser, Marianne Rosenberg, Howard Carpendale and Roy Black. In view of the focus on hits on both GoldStarTV and the ZDF “Hit Parade”, it can be assumed that more clips from this genre will also be shown on February Saturdays.
The selection of possible contributions is large: in its 32nd year of existence, five to eight new songs as well as the most popular songs from the previous program have been presented per program. Especially presenter Dieter Thomas Heck aka “Mr. Hitparade” made the show popular in its first 15 years. There was also an innovative concept with more proximity to the audience than in previous hit shows and singing live with half playback. These circumstances helped the hit to make a comeback across all age groups in the 1970s.
GoldStar TV is available as a channel on various streaming services, some of which are also freely available. These include Waipu.tv, Zattoo and Rakuten. As well as Pluto TV (free) and Prime Video Channels (in the “Television with Heart” channel package).
