Delta Airlines received favorable reviews for its keynote speech at the famous concert hall ‘Sphere’
18,000 people attended and experienced cutting-edge technology
The airline succeeds in revamping its image through technology
American airline Delta received a lot of attention at CES 2025, the world’s largest home appliance and IT exhibition, which opened on the 7th (local time). If Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s keynote held the day before was reminiscent of a pilgrim’s march, Delta received favorable reviews for using cutting-edge technology to make the changes in aviation that ordinary people encounter in their daily lives feel and enjoy like a party.

Tickets were distributed in advance to see Delta’s keynote, which was scheduled for 5 p.m. that day. They lined up and headed to the ‘Sphere’. Delta aircraft were already visible flying around the outside of the Sphere. Sphere is a ball-shaped performance hall that has emerged as a new specialty in Las Vegas. Delta’s choice to celebrate its 100th anniversary by selecting a venue where superstars such as U2 and Eagles performed as the keynote site was the right one. Curiosity about the keynote held for the first time at Sphere stimulated CES participants.

Delta operated this concert hall to create the illusion of boarding an airplane. Free meals and drinks were distributed at the concession stand inside the concert hall. Commemorative photos were allowed at various locations, and participants dressed as captains and flight attendants guided them.
CES organizers also stimulated box office success by emphasizing that this event was the first keynote held at Sphere. Finally, the keynote began and Delta CEO Ed Bastian appeared on stage. During the speech, the screen showing the entire inside of the sphere changed frequently, increasing the participants’ level of immersion. There were some technical errors during the keynote process, but they were not major flaws.
Throughout the speech, I couldn’t take my eyes off Speer’s world’s largest LED screen, including images of aircraft coming out of hangars, simulations of real aircraft taking off, and even digital fireworks.

After the keynote, famous singer and guitarist Lenny Kravitz gave a spectacular performance. Participants sang along to Kravitz’s songs and had the experience of enjoying entertainment at a travel destination they arrived by plane.
A reporter who met after the event said, “Regardless of the content, the event itself was great.” If Jensen Huang’s keynote was about technology, Delta received favorable reviews for its appeal to emotions.

On this day, Delta introduced artificial intelligence (AI) into its app.It announced that it would integrate AI) assistant functions and announced an upgrade to in-flight entertainment through collaboration with YouTube. It also announced a partnership with ride-sharing company Uber to accumulate mileage when using taxis or food delivery services. From your home to the airport for your air travel It was also shown moving on a plane made by Job Aviation, a manufacturer of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. He also emphasized that he will contribute to expanding sustainability as well as aircraft development technology through collaboration with Airbus.
What is important is that through this event, Delta It has successfully established a leading image in the field of aviation innovation. It did not seem that important whether the announcement made on this day would actually be implemented. “Our job is not to transport people, it’s to bring people together,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian.
The 18,000 attendees ended the first day of CES with Bastian’s comments in their minds. It was a night with quite a lingering feeling.
