An American influencer was truly disappointed by her new Tesla Model 3, quickly regretting her Toyota Camry.
In reality, moving from a thermal car to an electric car is not an easy transition. For a young American, her choice to replace her Toyota Camry by one Tesla Model 3 transformed into a disappointing experience. In less than two days, she finally decided to return to her old car.
The disappointment of a Tesla Model 3
Mariah Padillaaged 18 answas impatient to take the step towards electric. After doing some research, she decided to trade in her Toyota Camry for a Tesla Model 3. With almost 175,000 subscribers on his account TikTok where she mainly shares beauty tips, Mariah documented her experience from the moment she took ownership of her first electric vehicle. From the first videos, she unfortunately expressed her frustration on several aspects of the Tesla.
First, she noticed a problem related to autonomy:
“My commute to work is 20 miles (32 km), but I’ve lost 40 miles (64 km) of range.”
Additionally, the TikToker found the overall experience a lot less intuitive and adapted to her daily life compared to what she had imagined. However, it must be taken into account that she had only used the vehicle for a few hours and therefore did not necessarily have time to get used to the particular features of a Tesla.
A quick return to Toyota
In the end, Mariah concluded that it was a error to switch to an electric car. So she decided to go back to a Toyota Camry. Here is what she said about it:
“I’m going to lose a lot of money, but I can’t keep this car.”
A few days after purchasing her Tesla Model 3, she went to a dealer Toyota. She wanted to buy a new Camry, as close as possible to the one she had just sold. Even though several studies show that the majority of electric vehicle owners do not want to return to thermal cars, this is not at all the case for Mariah. The transition to electric can be difficileespecially for drivers who have been used to thermal cars for decades, even if this is not the case for this young driver.
This fairly short story shows that the decision to go electric is not always ideal for everyone. Mariah’s disappointment with the Tesla Model 3 proves that it is important toto try a vehicle before purchasing it, especially for such a sudden change. There electrical technology is attracting more and more motorists, but it sometimes requires some time to adapt.
