In the announcement of the 140 books that will be published between January and April, it was also announced that the book “A Dobra” (Assírio and Alvim) by Adília Lopes. The new edition of the work of the poet who recently died will feature “two amendments” made by Adília Lopes, indicated editor Vasco David.
As for other news, the presentation began with the announcement of the new Portuguese authors on which the Porto Editora Group is focused. One of them is Rui Miguel Pinto who wrote a historical thriller. “O Segredo de Tomar”, which will be released in February, is a book “with a lot of action, a lot of adventures” and which marks the debut of this young author, indicated publisher Paula Ventura.
The same seal will publish in April “O Censor Antifascista” by Antônio Breda Carvalhoa primary school teacher who wrote a fiction book about “a young man from the province who comes to Lisbon to be a censor, but he is an anti-fascist and is missing revolutionary issues”, explained the publisher.
Another new feature is the edition of Maria Isaac at Porto Editora. The writer has changed her publishing house and will launch “Histórias que nos Matam”, a “more mature” work by the author, as indicated by Paula Ventura, which tells the life of someone who suffered an accident and lost their memory.
In the reissues, the publication was announced in January of “Se Askem por Mim, não Somos followed by Haja Harmonia” by Mario de Carvalho. The two award-winning plays, now together in a single volume, were staged by Teatro da Malaposta in Lisbon.
In non-fiction, Porto Editora announces the launch of the Cuban writer’s book for March Leonardo Padura. This time it is not a novel, but rather a kind of guide to the city of Havana – used by Padura as the setting for many of his books.
Also in March will be released “The Collapse of Truth: Trump’s re-election and the Democratic Risk in Europe and the World”, by Germano Almeida. The international policy analyst analyzes the year that now begins with Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
In April, the “History of ABBA” written by Jan Gradvall based on exclusive interviews and more than a decade of research on the Swedish group. Porto Editora will also launch a biography of Bill Gates. “Source Code” will be released in February and chronicles the first twenty years of the life of the Microsoft creator.
Still in non-fiction, in March the book “A Mais Breve História de um Conflito: da Yugoslavia ao Kosovo” will present, through the hand of journalist Amílcar Correia, a look with a “reporting nature”, explained editor Henrique Pinto Mesquita, about the conflict that marked history more than two decades ago.
In the field of poetry, the Assírio e Alvim seal will publish this month “As Manhãs que Não Sabes”, by the former Minister of Culture, Luis Felipe Castro Mendes. For February, the edition of “À Solta no Império de Salvação”, by the poet Frederico Pedreira and “Epoché”, by Manuel Afonso Costa, is planned.
In April, Assírio e Alvim will publish “Objetos Principales”, by Antonio Franco Alexandre. “An editorial event” said editor Vasco David at the presentation. It is a revised edition with a preface by Joana Matos Frias.
Still in February, the publisher once again published “Flores do Mal”, by Charles Baudelaire. 32 years later, in a revised edition, the revised translation by Fernando Pinto do Amaral was published.
Among the many new features, Porto Editora also announced two books related to management. “My Grandfather’s Legacy – Leadership and Management Lessons” by Rui Miguel Nabeiro pays tribute to Delta’s founder, Rui Nabeiro, where the Commander’s grandson unveils the principles and values that guided the company’s construction. Porto Editora will also launch “O Gestor da Felicidade” by Madalena Carey.
