The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued, on Thursday, Yellow Code warnings of wind intensifications and blizzards in the mountains, valid throughout Friday in more than half of the country, as well as an information of quantitatively moderate precipitation throughout the country and snow in the mountain area, until Saturday morning.
According to meteorologists, on Friday, between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., a Yellow Code will be in effect according to which, locally and temporarily, the wind will show intensifications with speeds of 50-60 km/h in Banat, Crișana, Maramureș, in most of Transylvania and in the west of Oltenia.
Also, in the Western Carpathians, in the west of the Southern Carpathians and in the north of the Eastern Carpathians, especially at high altitudes, gusts will exceed 70-80 km/h and there will be blizzards.
A second Yellow Code for bad weather will be valid on Friday, in the time interval 14:00 – 23:00, during which the wind will show intensifications with speeds of 50 – 70 km/h in the south of Banat, Transylvania, Moldova, in the most of Oltenia and in the south-west of Muntenia. In the mountains, especially at high altitudes, gusts will exceed 70 – 90 km/h and there will be a blizzard.
Meteorologists state that, in the second part of the night from Friday to Saturday (January 10/11), there will be more wind intensifications, with speeds of 40-50 km/h in the mountains, as well as in the south and east of the territory.
At the same time, between January 10, 6:00 a.m. and January 11, 10:00 a.m., a quantitatively moderate rainfall information comes into force, mainly in the form of rain in the low areas of Banat, Crisana and Moldova, mixed in Maramureș and Transylvania and predominantly snow in the hill and mountain areas, where a new layer of snow will be deposited.
In the other regions there will be light rain and only in places sleet or snow. The maximum temperatures will drop significantly on Friday (January 10) in the west, northwest and center of the country, and on Saturday (January 11) in the other regions, while the minimums will become mostly negative.
