At the weekly press conference of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the AA reporter asked a question to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Christophe Lemoine, regarding the PKK/YPG presence in Syria and France’s approach to these elements.
French Spokesperson: “Does France define the PKK as a terrorist organization? Do you accept that the organization you call SDF in Syria has relations with the PKK and is its front organization? Your response to this organization in Syria asking for French soldiers to be deployed against Turkey why?” In response to the question, he said:
HE REMEMBERED MACRON’S WORDS
“What is important for us in principle is the inclusion of the groups currently operating on Syrian territory in the transition process. As far as I know, this is what is intended to be done between the SDF forces and the (Damascus administration) authorities. I would like to remind you of President Macron’s words regarding the Kurdish forces. To the Syrian democratic forces “We are aware of our debt to the freedom fighters. They stood by us during the difficult years of the fight against terrorism.”
“I WILL NOT COMMENT ON THE NATURE OF PKK”
In response to another question in which he was asked to clarify his remarks about the PKK, Lemoine said, “I will not comment on the nature of the PKK.” He avoided giving a clear answer by saying.
Touching on regional developments at the press conference, Lemoine noted that France was pleased with the election of a new President in Lebanon and wished that this election would be “hope” for the Lebanese people and Lebanon’s allies.
Lemoine said that this election should be followed by the establishment of a strong government that will unite the Lebanese people.
