(Health Korea News / Yoo Ji-in) ‘Medical 24 Hours’ is a corner that shows brief news related to the medical field that is often overlooked in the media. It may seem like trivial news, but it could be valuable information to someone, so I’m only summarizing the facts.
◆Konkuk University Hospital earned Grade A as an emergency medical institution for two consecutive years
Konkuk University Hospital received the highest grade, A grade, for two consecutive years in the ‘2024 Emergency Medical Institution Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Konkuk University Hospital recorded perfect scores in five evaluation indicators, including ▲ confidence level in patient classification, ▲ length of stay for patients with severe symptoms, and ▲ final treatment provision rate.
This evaluation was conducted on 408 emergency medical institutions nationwide, including regional emergency medical centers and regional emergency medical centers. To improve the quality of emergency medical services, the Ministry of Health and Welfare conducts emergency medical institution evaluations every year for regional emergency medical centers, regional emergency medical centers, and local emergency medical institutions across the country.

◆Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, and Boramae Hospital establish a CDM data integrated management platform
Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, and Seoul Boramae Hospital have established a joint research platform that can view and analyze integrated data from the three institutions with a single access.
Last month, Seoul National University Hospital, along with Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and Seoul Boramae Hospital, established an ‘integrated CDM platform’ by gathering together the common data model (CDM) that had been independently managed by each institution. CDM refers to a data model that standardizes medical data such as medical records, prescriptions, and test results held by each medical institution into a standardized structure.
The ‘Integrated CDM Platform’ is a research platform that integrates CDM data from three institutions at Seoul National University Hospital and can utilize massive medical data of approximately 6.85 million people. In order to increase the value of medical data utilization and create a joint research environment, it was built over a period of approximately one year from November 2023 to December 2024. This is an expanded development based on SNUHUB (Seoul National University Hospital Big Data Platform) previously operated by Seoul National University Hospital.
Until now, the three organizations had each operated CDM data of the same standard. Because each institution managed data independently, it was difficult for researchers to access data from other institutions, which limited the ability to conduct large-scale analysis or research collaboration.
The integrated CDM platform regularly synchronizes the anonymized databases of the three institutions, allowing researchers to track visit occurrences, condition occurrences, procedure occurrences, drug exposures, and tests with a single access. You can safely and effectively view and analyze the latest CDM data such as Measurement. In particular, this platform provides large-scale data that integrates the characteristics of patient groups from different institutions, reducing variation in analysis and improving research reliability.
