Minister of Education, information on the increase in teachers’ salaries in 2025

“The prime minister, at the meeting with the social dialogue partners, said very clearly that even after the discussion I had in the coalition and with the prime minister, in which I also said that at the end of the strike, there were some promises made to the teachers . Sure, some of those promises, some of them were honored and the prime minister said that depending on how the economy will go towards the middle of the year, he knows that if things stabilize financially, he has to honor the promises for education. And the representatives of the trade unions participated in that meeting and I can confirm this”, says the Minister of Education, Daniel David, on Antena 3 CNN.

About the students’ complaints about the transportation subsidy, he says that “it’s very hard when you lose a right that you had.”

“Of course we could discuss whether that option should have been given, but once you’ve given it to them, it’s a right. I understand, I understand their frustrations, but I can say the same to them, we have to see how the financial situation of the country will stabilize and I am convinced that if things go well, and I don’t see why they should not go well at least in a second part of the year, as we look at the international economy, a crisis does not seem to be coming. Of course, we have this very big problem and the measures, in a way, are justified with such a deficit that puts the country at risk. The measures are justified, but I am optimistic about what will happen in the second part of the year and then, I repeat, the prime minister said this. He knows how to honor some promises. (…) We will re-discuss this, because it was a given right and it wasn’t just something that froze, it was something that was taken away”, concludes David.
