Motorcycle manufacturers have always seemed to be in a competition to produce the fastest engines to be placed on aerodynamic frames to achieve top speeds for adrenaline junkies.
Thus, over time, extremely powerful motorcycles capable of reaching dizzying speeds have been produced, and I will talk about the fastest two-wheeled assemblies in the following lines:
1. Dodge Tomahawk
When it comes to the Dodge Tomahawk, most motorcycle enthusiasts automatically think of things like:
- High production costs
- Limited editions
- Super powerful engines
- Exclusive engines that you don’t see on the roads
That’s about it, because the Dodge Tomahawk is one of the most expensive motorcycles in the world, and a model costs about $550,000 on average.
Where can you see such motorcycles? You are more likely to see it in action movies, various PC/console simulator games or video slots in online casinos which have motorcycle racing as their theme.
Chances of seeing a Dodge Tomahawk on the street are minimal because the model is produced only to order, taking into account the huge cost of production.
This model does not have 2 wheels, as you might imagine, but 4, but they are paired two at a time to provide a high degree of stability.
The motorcycle itself weighs around 680 kilograms according to the manufacturer’s statement and can reach astonishing speeds of up to 613 km/h. However, in real tests, the pilot reached a maximum of 500 km/h, but not without risks.
The model has a 10-cylinder Dodge Viper engine that measures 500 horsepower and has an automatic transmission.
The chassis of the motorcycle is made of aluminum, steel, titanium and carbon fiber and looks really impressive.
2. Suzuki Hayabusa
Suzuki has always distinguished itself by building motorcycles equipped with very powerful engines.
The Hayabusa model is a relatively new concept and can reach very high speeds, but it is only suitable for experienced people because it is a bit harder to handle.
However, you should know that this model has been in mass production for almost 10 years, and the 2024 version of this bike costs just over $20,000.
For this amount, the enthusiastic buyer gets a 4-cylinder engine that has a volume of 1.4 liters and can generate 197 horsepower.
This motorcycle beauty accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 399 km/h.
However, the chances of reaching the top speed in road traffic conditions are slim, this speed being achieved in wind tunnel tests.
3. MTT Y2K
If you are enthusiastic about the motorcycle market and industry then maybe this name tells you something, otherwise I don’t think the name MTT Y2K suggests much to you.
However, if you look for images of this model, you will quickly see that this is a motorcycle that exudes power and speed.
Just look at the turbine and the exhaust pipe and you will immediately realize that this bike is a road beast.
The engine is created by Rolls Royce and develops no less than 320 horsepower. The MTT Y2K also entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the most powerful production motorcycle ever produced.
However, each individual model is made to order, and the production costs of such a two-wheeled masterpiece reach up to $100,000.
The MTT Y2K can reach a maximum speed of 370 km/h, which is a speed tested on the road, so in real conditions, not in “laboratory” tests.
4. Kawasaki Ninja H2R
The model Kawasaki Ninja H2R it is the fastest model produced by this manufacturer and can reach a maximum speed of 354 km/h thanks to the engine that develops a power of 310 horses.
Compared to its predecessors, this model is much more elegant. It is made to order and is a very comfortable model with which you will fully feel the speed and adrenaline.
If you want to pilot one yourself, you have to be willing to pay around $58,000 for the 2024 model, the latest to hit the market.
5. Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird
Admittedly, this model name from Honda isn’t the happiest or easiest to pronounce.
Honda is a giant in the motorcycle manufacturing industry, and this model was nicknamed the “Blackbird” by fans thanks to its design and color that really impressed.
It was serially produced for 11 years. It stands out for the fact that it runs very smoothly on the road, it has a reliable but very powerful 1.1-liter engine with 153 horsepower.
The model drives comfortably, it is suitable for both amateurs and enthusiasts, the maximum speed reached being 305 km/h on the road.
The cost of purchasing a Blackbird is around 8,000 dollars, so it is a fairly affordable model and you will see such models on the roads in Romania.
6. Yamaha YZF R1
Yamaha ranks number 1 in the world in the series production of motorcycles and you have probably seen several models from this manufacturer by now.
The YZF R1 model can reach speeds of up to 301 km/h and yet it is also suitable for novice riders as it has several technical features to increase comfort and stability.
The engine can develop a maximum power of 205 horses, and the price of such a model is about 16,000 dollars, although the prices also depend a lot on the year of manufacture of the motorcycle.
