Olympic champion Elena Isinbaeva returned to the Russian Federation. The portal reports this V1.ru.
The athlete came to Volgograd to say goodbye to her “second father,” coach Evgeny Trofimov. On January 3, he died at the age of 80. It was thanks to Trofimov that Isinbaeva was able to take first place at the Olympics in Athens in 2004.
The athlete was seen at the farewell ceremony at the Dmitrovskoye cemetery. Trofimov’s other wards were also present there.
The moment Isinbayeva laid a bouquet of flowers at the coffin, she could no longer restrain herself and began to cry.
Later, the athlete admitted that her faith in Trofimov helped her overcome difficulties and achieve success.
