“The best candidate I can imagine is the current head of the Harju County Court, Astrid Asi. She previously worked in the prosecutor’s office, has two higher educations, one of which is in the field of IT jurisprudence,” Pakosta said at a press conference following a regular government meeting.

The minister added that Astrid Asi also has extensive experience working in the private sector, for example, at Telia.

“She is also highly respected as a court leader in both Narva and Tallinn. This is confirmed by the fact that she worked on the disciplinary panel at the State Court, considering cases against other judges, and she was entrusted with this responsibility,” Pakosta said.

The next step in the potential appointment of Astrid Asi to a new position is the discussion of her candidacy in the Legal Committee of the Riigikogu.
