There are four bypasses and one flyover at five places of 25 km

ChittagongBypass and flyover construction project at 5 important points of Cox’s Bazar highway is almost at the final stage. A loan agreement has been signed with JICA for the construction of bypasses at five important locations of 25 km. The total cost of the project will be 8 thousand crores. Out of this, Zika is giving 5 thousand crores as loan. 3 thousand crore rupees will be spent on land acquisition. The acquisition money will come from government funds.

Shyamal Kumar Bhattacharya, Additional Chief Engineer of Roads and Highways Department and Director of this project said, The work of the project will start in the middle of next year. Feasibility study of the project has been completed. Consultant appointed after approval of DPP Ekne. Besides, after making the detailed design, the tender will be called in the middle of 2025. After the tender process, the project work will start in 2025.

Officials of the Roads and Highways Department said, Chittagong with special funding from JapanInitiatives have been taken to bypass five important places on the Cox’s Bazar highway. In this regard, project director Shyamal Kumar Bhattacharya told Azadi, ChittagongWe have signed a loan agreement with JICA to construct four bypasses and one flyover at 25 km at five points on Cox’s Bazar highway. Apart from ChittagongRemaining part of Cox’s Bazar highway up to 107 km road will also be funded by JICA. Talks are going on with them in this regard. In the first phase, JICA wants to do it from Moizzartech in Chittagong to Chakaria.

Officials of the Roads and Highways Department said, Chittagong before 2026Cox’s Bazar important highway is not being upgraded to six lanes. In this situation, the government decided to construct four bypasses and one overpass on this highway to handle the heavy traffic of deep sea port cargo vehicles and tourists heading to Cox’s Bazar. In this case, the Japanese organization JICA was providing financial support. The purpose is, Ensuring smooth transportation of goods by avoiding traffic jams at all these places.

Roads and highways department officials said, Now the land acquisition proposal for this project road will go to the district administration. After completing various processes, the owners will get compensation for the land.

Note that, ChittagongBypasses of Cox’s Bazar highway areChakriya, Iron wheel, Dohazari and Patia. And the overpass or flyover is at Keranihat in Satkania. Prior to the construction of those bypasses, four critical six-lane bridges on the highway have been completed.
