Teknaf’s abducted Jasim was released on a ransom of Tk 15 lakh

Jasim Uddin, who was abducted from Baharchhara in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, was released from the abductors after 9 days with a ransom of Tk 15 lakh, his relatives said. They said that they sold the land for 15 lakhs to save from the kidnappers.

Nurul Islam, a UP member of Ward No. 8 of Teknaf Baharchhara Union, said Jasim Uddin was released yesterday on Wednesday in exchange of Tk 15 lakh. He said that Jasim Uddin, the son of Nazim Uddin Master, a resident of Bara Dail area of ​​Teknaf Baharchhara Union, was abducted on December 30 (Monday) last year.

At night, armed terrorists fired 15-20 rounds of blank fire and abducted Jasim Uddin at gunpoint from his grocery store at the head of the road at South Bara Dale Government Primary School and took him into the hills.

After the abduction, video messages were sent to the families demanding a ransom of 50 lakh rupees on behalf of the terrorists and subjected to various forms of torture and beating. Finally, the terrorists released him after paying a ransom of 15 lakh taka.

There are various injuries on his body. He said that he is currently being treated at a clinic in Chittagong.

Police Inspector Shobhan Kumar Saha, in-charge of Baharchhara Investigation Center, said that nothing was reported to the police about the victim’s family returning with ransom. But filed a complaint at the police station.

Police are conducting operations to arrest the accused. Cox’s Bazar district police and the information of victims say that 192 people have been abducted from different areas of Teknaf in the last one year.
