In Sophie Thatcher’s new horror film Companion, a sex bot is tuned with fatal consequences

The companion horror film will be shown at the end of January.

Warner Bros. has released a trailer for the Companion genre hybrid, which mixes horror, black comedy, sci-fi and romance. Directed and written by Drew Hancock, the film stars Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén and Rupert Friend.

Producers are Zach Cregger, Raphael Margules and JD Lifshitz known from the movie Barbarian.

The commercial clip reveals, among other things, that Iris, played by Thatcher, known from the movie Heretic, is an android that Josh, played by Jack Quaid, has taken as his girlfriend. According to the director, Companion is something completely different from the numerous horror movies in which artificial intelligence is the bad guy.

Companion hits the big screen on January 31st.
