Young Tik Tokers from Skiathos are touring various villages in the Thessaly region and about a month ago they found themselves in the mountains of Elassona.
More specifically, there they accidentally discovered an elderly couple in Verdicousia who live in truly tragic and miserable conditions in a dilapidated house just outside the village.
The two young men started to make a cheerful video looking for an old barber by asking the villagers, but they “stumbled” on the very nice old man who described to them the bad conditions under which he lives with his wife in a house about to collapse and with almost no no money and no food.
The two young men spoke to the elderly who reported that if their 50-year-old son stopped supplying them with some food they would literally starve to death.
The young people went to a local supermarket, filled bags with food and essentials and took them to the couple, appealing to those who pass by to visit them to help them in any way they can.
Viewers of the video exceeded 30,000 and messages poured in with many asking for details to find the couple in order to help financially. Some were even willing to pay to build the house from scratch, as the ceiling is about to fall in and flatten the couple.
Well done to the two young men who raised the issue to hundreds, as well as the volunteers who intend to contribute in any way.
It should be noted that according to other information, the elderly live in these conditions by choice, as claimed by residents of the village.
Because humanity and solidarity against the bad times we are experiencing is still man’s greatest “weapon”.
