In 25 years, 6 new people were selected and a total of 16 technical consultants were operated.
POSCO operates a ‘technology consultant’ system utilizing retirees of retirement age to preserve skilled technology and systematically transfer field know-how.
This system is designed so that experts can be rehired for up to five years after retirement and effectively pass on their accumulated experience and expertise to younger employees.
Applicants for technical consultants must receive a recommendation from the executive in charge and pass a review of their professional capabilities and work attitude, and their qualifications are ultimately recognized by the review committee.
Unlike general re-employees, they focus on ‘skill transfer’ and salary levels and contract extensions are determined through annual performance and performance evaluations.
This year, at Pohang Steel Works, Master Lee Gyeong-jae, Deputy Manager Park Jae-yeol of the EIC Technology Department, and Manager Kim Young-gon of the Equipment Technology Department were newly selected as technology consultants.
In 2025, a total of 16 technology consultants, including 3 new consultants at Gwangyang Steel Works, plan to pass on their accumulated capabilities to junior employees.
Through this system, POSCO plans to respect skilled field technical personnel and ensure that their long-term experience and knowledge can contribute to the company’s sustainable development. In addition, we plan to lay the foundation for the growth of all employees through continuous field improvement and creation of a technology development environment.
