As a result of the accident on the Ventspils highway, children from the choir of the Ventspils music secondary school Nošu planēta were injured, one of the conductors of the group was killed, the chairman of the Ventspils City Council told LETA Janis Vitolins.
According to him, three injured children were taken to the Riga Children’s Clinical Hospital, three more are in the Tukums hospital. The second choir conductor was taken to Talsi hospital.
Members of the Nošu planēta choir, together with the conductors, were heading to the V International Christmas Song Competition in Daugavpils. A minibus was rented for the trip, the head of the city council said.

The State Police received information that a collision occurred between a cargo vehicle and a minibus in the Strazd parish of the Talsi region.
As a result of the incident, a passenger in the minibus died. According to the Emergency Medical Services Service, the injuries received by the passenger were incompatible with life.
The ambulance took eight people to the hospital, two of whom were adults and the rest were minors. The victims were taken to the hospital in both serious and satisfactory condition.
