Google expands the possibilities Discover con Daily Listena new experimental feature that turns your personalized news feed into one short audio summary. Coming soon available onGoogle app for iOS and Android devicesDaily Listen offers audio tracks of five minutes or less, designed to update users on their favorite topics in a convenient and immediate format.
Daily Listen if you base your a AI system that analyzes search history and user preferencesand generates personalized content in audio format based on the user’s most followed news. According to Google, this feature offers a similar experience to NotebookLM Audio Overviewsbut with a focus on dynamic and updated content.
Users will find Daily Listen directly on the Google app homepagewith an interface that also integrates a section of “related stories”where it is possible to delve deeper into the topics covered with links to additional content. This is the first button at the top left as you can see in the image.
Google confirmed that Daily Listen leverages Discover settings to ensure accurate personalization. The themes users follow in Discover and in searches will be reflected in the audio content. The feature is currently rolling out on iOS and Android as part of the Search Labs program. Those interested can access the project via the Google app, although activation may take some time to reach all users, while more details on the experiment will be available soon.
Daily Listen represents an opportunity for users to take advantage of the benefits of audio as a tool to quickly inform themselves, without sacrificing the customization and depth of Discover. The latter is a tool which, however, proves to be as versatile as it is dangerous: by concentrating users’ attention on their favorite topics, it tends to confirm their vision of the world by avoiding proposing conflicting points of view. Furthermore, the choice of news that deserves more attention is delegated to a algorithm whose exact modes of operation remain unknown.
