At the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, the Japanese firm is presenting the Mazda 6e, a new premium electric sedan that will take on the Tesla Model 3.
Scheduled for this summer, this Mazda 6e has big ambitions on the European market.
A new electric sedan arrives in Europe
This new Mazda 6e is none other than the European version of the Mazda EZ-6, a 100% electric sedan unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show last year, in April 2024. For its arrival on the Old Continent, this new generation of the Mazda 6 has been revised to meet the expectations of European customers, with a more premium positioning than ‘previously. It is the result of a collaboration between Mazda and Changan Automobile, Mazda’s long-standing partner in China.
4.92 meters long, 1.89 meters wide and 1.49 meters high, all with a wheelbase of 2.89 meters, this new Mazda 6e benefits from a fluid and elegant designMazda’s know-how and driving experience, while featuring Changan Automobile’s electrification and intelligent infotainment technologies. In particular, in our region, it will face the Tesla Model 3, the Volkswagen ID.7, but also the BMW i4, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and the Renault Mégane E-Tech and other Peugeot e-308s.
Mazda 6e: a new rival to the Tesla Model 3
Under the hood of the Mazda 6e, we will find a 100% electric engine available in 245 horsepower and 258 horsepower (both 320 Nm of torque), associated with two battery levels with a capacity of 68,8 kWh (LFP) and 80 kWh (NMC), offering respectively up to 479 km and 552 km of autonomy. Thanks to fast charging capacities of up to 200 kW in direct current, it will be possible to recover 80% of autonomy in around twenty minutes. The Japanese manufacturer has not confirmed whether the plug-in hybrid version, offered on the Chinese version, will be marketed in Europe.
Side technologiesthe Mazda 6e is equipped with intelligent features, such as an intelligent driver assistance system that helps provide advanced driver assistance, not to mention accident mitigation technology. Its intelligent interior allows users to interact with voice, touch and gesture controls, for greater safety and comfort while driving. Its particularly refined interior has in fact removed the majority of physical buttons, to bring together all the functions in its 14.6-inch central touch screen, supplemented by a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.
The production version of the Mazda 6e will be on sale bysummer 2025 in Europe.
