FritzOS 8.02: Current AVM update for several Fritz boxes

AVM has released FritzOS 8.02 as a download. It is available for several Fritzboxes, including Fritzbox 7690, 6690 Cable and 6850 5G.

AVM has released the update to FritzOS 8.02 for various models of its Fritzbox routers. After the current firmware was only available as a manual download in some cases, the reports AVM update overview An online update is now available for most devices:

A search for the update is possible for non-provider devices after logging in under System / Update. Restarting the Fritzbox brings you FritzOS 8.02 for the home network after a few minutes. If you use a rented AVM router from your internet provider, you will have to wait.

What does FritzOS 8.02 bring?

FritzOS 8.02 is a maintenance update for FritzOS 8 that brings bug fixes and improvements. These primarily include bug fixes for new and old functions. Key improvements include increased stability for phone calls and fixes for IPSec VPN connections that didn’t always work before.

Another highlight is the introduction of the EDNS0 extension for local domains, which improves interoperability with Linux systems. Compared to previous versions before FritzOS 8, the update offers a graphical display of the connection status on the Fritzbox homepage, as well as a new online monitor that shows the utilization of the Internet connection.
