Freewrite Wordrunner keyboard
There are a huge number of keyboards on the market. Small, large, flat, with numeric keypad, ergonomic or touch. In short, there is a lot to choose from. Those who have become accustomed to thin models with flat keys may therefore be surprised by people who prefer an alternative with high keys reminiscent of old typewriters instead of a compact modern keyboard. This type of keyboard with mechanical switches is especially popular among gamers, for whom it provides fast response and precise control. Writing long texts on such keyboards is rather uncomfortable and less ergonomic.
According to Astrohaus, which debuted its innovations on the Kickstarter platform, even mechanical keyboards reminiscent of ancient electronic typewriters have a future and a target audience. They are journalists and writers, whose needs are quite specific. And that’s exactly what the Freewrite Wordrunner keyboard is supposed to fulfill. It has exactly 88 tall backlit keys and a special electronic counter that can count keystrokes or the number of words typed.
The keyboard also has separate keys for quickly deleting text, jumping between paragraphs or between the top and bottom of the page. It can communicate with three computers at the same time via Bluetooth and with the fourth via a USB-C cable. Its price has not yet been published. The company plans to reach the target audience with it again via the Kickstarter platform.
