National Road 4 (EN4) was closed this Saturday morning in the Arcos area, in the municipality of Estremoz, Évora district, due to a road collision, with three injuries, indicated the GNR and Civil Protection.
Speaking to the Lusa agency, the Central Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command said that the alert for the road collision, which involved two passenger vehicles, was given at 7:50 am.
The accident occurred at kilometer 151 of the EN4, in the Arcos area, in the municipality of Estremoz, and resulted in the road being cut in both directions, a source from the GNR’s Évora Territorial Command added to Lusa.
Contacted at 10:50 am, the same source said that the road was still closed in the same area, and cleaning work is underway following the accident.
According to the Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command, the collision caused three injuries, two of them in a condition considered serious, who were transported to the hospital in Évora, and the other minor, taken to the basic emergency service of the Health Center from Estremoz.
22 operatives were mobilized to the site, supported by 10 vehicles, including firefighters, GNR, National Institute of Medical Emergency, Infrastructures of Portugal and municipal Civil Protection.
